Rubén Del Campo

I joined ZenRows as the first engineering hire, and since then, I have played a foundational role in architecting and scaling the platform to support the company’s rapid growth. I work cross-functionally with the leadership, growth, sales, and support teams to design resilient systems, unblock teams, and translate business needs into scalable infrastructure and tooling.

I focus on building and operating a high-scale, cloud-native platform that processes billions of network requests per month, handles petabyte-scale data traffic, and orchestrates thousands of CPU cores. I own much of the backend infrastructure, observability tools, CI/CD pipelines, and developer platform.

Some of my achievements and day-to-day work include:

— Architect and maintain a multi-account, multi-environment AWS infrastructure powered by Terraform, AWS SAM, and a deep focus on self-service and security

— Operate scalable services across ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, SQS, EventBridge, Cognito, Redis, among others—supporting both internal operations and external

— Design and operate a comprehensive observability stack with OpenTelemetry, AWS X-Ray, OpenSearch, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch, among others, enabling full traceability across distributed systems

— Partner closely with executive, growth, sales, and support teams to align infrastructure with business priorities, develop internal tools, and support go-to-market efforts

— Build and maintain a robust CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions, custom runner pools, linters, pre-commit hooks, and SonarCloud to ensure high code quality and fast iteration

— Develop internal libraries and automation to support consistent logging, error handling, service-to-service communication, and resource discovery across all teams

— Manage internal data flows and analytics pipelines using Athena, QuickSight, Tinybird, and related tooling—supporting operations, reporting, and business intelligence across departments

Mainly worked designing and building cloud architectures across industries—aviation, banking, transportation, retail and hospitality. Always focused on helping companies move from legacy systems to modern, scalable infrastructure, tackling everything from large-scale migrations to software architecture and networking.

Some of the key projects I worked on:

— Designed the first cloud architecture for Spain’s largest airline’s commercial channels. On top of the app infrastructure, I built the communication network that became the backbone for all cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-on-prem interactions. This whole setup eventually led to a full data center migration to AWS.

— Built the cloud and software architecture for a high-speed rail operator, from early design to launch and scaling.

— Led the network and systems architecture for a national security project for the Spanish government and Spanish intelligence agency.

— Delivered cloud solutions for private banking, hospitality, and restaurant chains, balancing security, scalability, and performance in high-demand environments.

Worked on a wide range of systems and networking projects, with a strong focus on virtualization and hyperconvergence, setting the stage for transitioning into software and cloud architecture roles.

— Design and deployment of wireless communication networks for top-tier organizations, including the world’s leading football club, health insurance company, Spain’s largest hardware store chain, and various restaurant chains.

— Led multiple virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure projects, optimizing performance, scalability, and resilience. Worked on a wide range of systems and networking projects, with a strong focus on virtualization and hyperconvergence, setting the stage for transitioning into software and cloud architecture roles.
