José Luis Villarig

I am a highly motivated person and I like to learn and share knowledge and new competences. I like to work both alone and in teams and specially like solving challenging problems. I enjoy making solutions as good as possible and as soon as possible, pondering in each case what is more needed.

I have worked with teams all over the world as I have been on several global projects so I am used and also enjoy meeting persons of other cultures. As such, I have worked for almost six years in the European Commission in a multi cultural environment. I have also worked for universities, for financial companies, for large public institutions, for newspapers…

My major area of expertise is as an Application Cloud Architect and web developer. I have also worked in the past as a system administrator, so I am good in working as a dev ops and preventing and solving problems.

In my recent six years experience in DG MARE E3 in the European Commission I have also done the functions of backup project manager and business analyst. As such, I am experienced in project planning, definition of risks, creating progress reports, business analysis, specification of stories, risks and stablishing priorities, etc.

I am creative, with experience managing teams and working in them and I am able to deal with different kinds of people. I also have a great ability to analyze and solve problems, do plannings and identify risks. I am also a good communicator.

I enjoy developing software projects, specially web ones, because of the challenge they offer, specially when planning or building new applications or functionalities. I have an special interest in e-commerce, e-government and social networks. I also like databases, especially analysis, design and normalization. I am also specially good planning, designing, adapting and normalizing databases. I also enjoy designing and programming videogames and gamification apps.
