Steve in a few words
Hello, I'm Steve and I'm a motion designer and media producer from the UK, now living in Hamburg. I have an extensive background in creating explainer videos, music videos and social media content for clients big and small and from almost every industry. With my background in graphic design, I have a good understanding of creating consistent, on-brand materials that engage and resonate with target audiences.

I can offer either a full suite service, or provide specific skills to a team where required. My full suite service can include script writing, style development, storyboarding, illustration, animation, sound design, voice over and music, depending on requirements.

I'm particularly passionate about workin with those who are helping to make the world a better place; whether through green tech, healthcare and education, or through social initiatives and charity. However I am open to work with clients from around the world, in just about any industry, and at any scale.

I provide motion design and animation services on a freelance basis, both directly to clients and as support for studios and agencies. I work primarily in After Effects and Cinema 4D to provide 2D and 3D motion graphics for a range of industries, but have a preference for clients within education, music, healthcare, climate/green industry, third sector/not-for-profit and others bringing about positive change in the world.
  • University of Sheffield
    Careers Media Information Officer
    November 2012 - January 2017 (4 years and 2 months)
    150 S Stratford Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27104, USA
In this widely varied role I have been responsible for producing a range of content for promotion and information. A major part of this has been producing 2D vector-based animations using Adobe After Effects. As such I have gained extensive experience in the animation process; from scripting, to story boarding, to style framing, to animatics and final production. In 2015 I helped redesign the department's branding. This involved extensive research into our usergroup as well as research into the broader market and the wider specifications of the University. After developing a number of designs, we proceeded with a scheme based on brighter, friendlier colours and simplified line-art illustrations that created a more welcoming and illustrative style which our user group agreed was an improvement on the previous designs. This lead to an extensive redesigning of branded materials in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. I continue to produce materials for print and screen based on this design. I am also responsible for providing customer service and information to students visiting the service, which includes the regular delivery of interactive workshops in using social media and personal branding in career planning. This has helped me become a confident public speaker, and I particularly enjoy giving engaging presentations that are educational and informative.
