My current role with Ballista centres on advising customers seeking to revolutionise management and operation of infrastructure and systems, in both conventional and renewable energy, and utility sectors. Our focus is to meet demands for greater mobility; electronic security; and the provision of intuitive systems, including digital twins. In a similar vein, I provide expertise to support organisations to realise a net zero target and decarbonise. Whilst with MWC I was responsible for project managing the complete business start-up phase of this new business incubated by a successful wealth management company, and targeted to attract a minimum of 100,000 home users within 4 years in addition to the SME business product. I was personally responsible for the recruiting the technical team and for the design and build of one of the most secure document management systems in the world, designing all of the internal business processes and creating the internal administration processes. From a standing start in April 2011 a custom built document management system, CRM system and 2 x CMS based websites were created and launched (for both personal and business clients). I reported directly to the board of directors and was the principle systems architect, strategic technology leader and technical programme manager.

Broadband 4 Devon/Catalyst 4 Growth

This £12.5 million EU funded public private partnership was established in order to deliver broadband demand stimulation & also dramatically increase both the application of broadband based technologies amongst Devon based SMEs. As project director I was responsible for setting up the project and creating the business processing, audit proceedures and for shaping the overall project strategy within the confines of the EU funding. As project director I was also personally accountable for the disbursement of the £3.6 million SME grant funds and for implementing the European procurement regulations in order to ensure the utterly transparent use of public funds to achieve economic development. Whilst in post, I set about making this project a showcase for both the region and the UK as a whole, by implementing the project along private sector lines.

Bates Richards 1987 - 1990 (3 years) My recruitment as a surveyor by Bates Richards was completely unexpected, but it turned out that my ability to read/understand/comment complex legal documents (I studied contract law) my aptitude for absorbing complex technical specifications (aircon, power management, raised floors and UPS systems for dealing floors) combined with my hitherto untapped negotiation skills ideally equipped me to create/ build a successful client base/fee income for the firm.
