The flexibility afforded in the Masters degree I studied for throughout 2018 allowed me to develop my skillset in producing professional audio for varying multimedia projects. Since completion, I have sought to develop a comprehensive compositional portfolio; I have provided sound design & score for award winning independent short films (Just Today by Aislinn Belot) & showcased audio-visual art installations in public art exhibitions and festivals (The Memory of the Sea is in our Blood, as part of Fire Station Creative's The North Sea exhibition), as well as compositions for multiple high-profile brand promotional campaigns. An experienced & dedicated multi-instrumentalist with 12+ years in the music industry, I currently write, produce & perform with Scottish alternative act Domiciles as well as assume the role of touring guitarist for newly reformed 1980's new wave act The Armoury Show & keyboards for The Skids on an ad hoc basis. Extensive background in navigating the industry as an independent musician driven by a self-reliant, DIY ethos; experienced in executing successful social media campaigns with a focus on sustained brand development & growth as well as booking & executing nationwide tours; subsequently I am equipped with a robust entrepreneurial skillset & forward-thinking aptitude; aforementioned act Domiciles garnered considerable national press attention (The National, The Guardian, Louder Than War, The Skinny amongst others) with the release of their debut album This Is Not a Zen Garden via Scottish record label Last Night From Glasgow, with whom I foster a close working relationship. Founded upon a forward-thinking not-for-profit business model, LNFG operate within an alternative framework to most conventional record labels, offering an annual membership to a limited number of patrons to fund physical record production & promotion without saddling the artist with any debt. Domiciles' debut album has been repressed multiple times, with each pressing going on to sell out.

Facilitated initially by a long-standing professional relationship with independent production company Tongue Twister Films (with whom I continue to work on an ad hoc basis, I offer my services as a freelance videographer & animator. Through these operational roles I have gained significant experience with various post-production & animating software - subsequently I am proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite & Davinci Resolve. Previous clients include acclaimed acts such as The Wedding Present, Adorable (assuming the role of secondary shooter for their 25th anniversary UK tour documentary as well as sound designer), as well as animation music videos for various international artists; Adorable, Glasvegas & Mogwai amongst others, and joined Brian Jonestown Massacre as tour photographer for the entire UK leg of their sold-out 2023 tour Please use the following link to view my portfolio: www.nickolasyoungaudio.com
