Matthew in a few words
I have extensive experience from agency to client side, which has provided me with a deeper understanding of brand and strategic communications. Brand is everything and has the power to change peoples’ perceptions, emotions and loyalty.

I’m a hands-on creative, from strategic thinking through to final design. Good ideas should transcend media, and I’m as comfortable developing a brand identity as I am a digital environment. The creative process itself is what makes me tick.

I’ve worked for a broad range of businesses and institutions, from blue chip and start-up, to government departments and NGOs. No matter the scale of the business, the challenges and solutions are always approached in the same methodical way.

I’ve worked collaboratively on large scale digital projects as well as creating a raft of unique online environments, apps and exciting campaigns.
Experience
  • Friction3
    Creative Director
    October 2019 - Today (5 years and 2 months)
My alias as a freelance consultant, delivering strategic creativity to help companies develop their brands and comms. I've worked on my own for a few years now, immersing myself in my clients' businesses and developing just the right tools for success, from sound strategy to creative output. While flying solo I've helped create a new EV brand for the RAC and led the brand evolution of many now thriving SMEs.

    October 2011 - March 2019 (7 years and 5 months)
Over 8 years experience as founder/creative director/owner leading several of teams to deliver the right thing rather than the easy fee earner. We launched and re-invigorated brands within the B2B and B2C sectors, delivering innovative creative communications to help them grow. Working in every market from food & drink (including organic), through NGOs, to automotive and education, there was no better path to becoming a seasoned expert
