Gijs van den Dool (est un consultant international indépendant en modélisation des catastrophes naturelles avec une vaste expérience dans la recherche, le conseil et le conseil en sciences de l'information géographique (SIG).

De 2009 à 2019, il a été le contact principal pour les études liées aux SIG au sein de CoreLogic, travaillant pour le groupe européen de modélisation des catastrophes naturelles à Paris. En plus de contribuer à de nombreux projets de modélisation, il a été chef de projet et expert en hydrologie dans plusieurs projets internationaux, notamment l'outil d'évaluation des risques d'inondation en Italie et la gestion de l'information pour les projets européens.

Il a obtenu un diplôme de maîtrise en sciences de l'information géographique de l'Université de Southampton, au Royaume-Uni, en 2017, en rédigeant une thèse sur un modèle mondial de prévision des feux de forêt utilisant les fonctions Fuzzy Logic. Après ses études, il a continué d'étudier l'utilisation de l’Observation Terrestre dans la modélisation des catastrophes naturelles pour améliorer les procédures existantes avec des méthodes du paradigme de l'intelligence artificielle.
