Dalis N. in a few words

I am a Mexican-American, a native Spanish speaker, and highly proficient in English. My interests in ever-evolving topics such as VR, gender studies, culture, sustainability, film, and the arts drew me to obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. Currently, I am providing research consultancy as a byproduct of my thesis, a highly rewarding experiment on the effects of spatial storytelling in Virtual Reality (VR). Having just concluded a temporary employment period at OMR gallery in my hometown, Mexico City, I am on the lookout for projects requiring a creative communicator like myself.

Working as a freelancer for over three years in communications workspaces such as editorial and PR has allowed me to refine my creativity and project management skills. For instance, while working at the Amsterdam-based art studio, DRIFT, and at Mexico City-based OMR in Communications and PR, I designed and carried out communication strategies from ideation to execution. Including writing and editing copy for artwork descriptions, press releases, newsletters, and website content. Likewise, I acted as the primary contact person for press inquiries, material collation, and other external stakeholders, such as curators, journalists, and publishers.

As someone who pushes ideas forward with diligence yet keeps an open mind, I enjoy independence and teamwork alike. For instance, as the former editor-in-chief of MEDIUM, I implemented a series of structural changes alongside the editorial team to improve the publication, devised a plan to revitalize the publication by improving editing, publication, UX, and SEO guidelines. These structural changes resulted in a fivefold increase in online traffic and in me coordinating the first two writing workshops offered to MEDIUM staff members in its 34 years of publication. I implemented these changes after a series of individual feedback sessions with team members.

Hope to bring your ideas to life!
