About Andy

I am a props, vehicles, and interior environments concept artist.

I specialize in sci-fi and mechanical designs, but I also worked in other settings... My main focus is to create production-ready concepts that are clear and precise in order for them to be properly modeled and textured in the future. I try to keep geometry as readable as possible. I often make use of 3D in the process, especially when the subject is geometrically complex.

I was formed through a mentorship with a professional concept artist who taught me the skills needed in the entertainment industry, more specifically the video game industry. I always loved engineering, and at some point in my life, I had to decide between pursuing a technical career or being an artist. I chose the latter, but I try to honor my other passion through my work! For each project, I do some research and try to find new and believable solutions for each problem.

I also worked as a freelance 3D artist in the past, and I learned production 3D modeling and texturing skills. Even though my passion is concept art, I still make use of those skills in my process. I also have experience working with Unity and Unreal Engine, and I've been involved in every step of the pipeline, from the concept art to the in-game implementation. This taught me how a small development team works and what it needs from a concept artist!

I've been working freelance for a year now, on a variety of projects. On a side note, I speak fluently French, Spanish, and English (albeit, with an accent!)

    I have been working for VEOM STUDIO on the game "The Crust" for over a year as a concept artist. The Crust is a near sci-fi moon colonization strategy game, and I designed several buildings and vehicles for it.

    This was (and still is) a very formative experience, as each building and vehicle has a radically different functionality, and the visuals have to communicate those effectively. Some research is needed for each concept, both for abstract ideas like shapes and silhouettes, but also for technical and mechanical solutions to these challenges.
