Health Compare is a website platform dedicated to helping patients find hospitals with the shortest waiting times and highest quality within their specified area. As an advocate for patients’ rights, Health Compare allows the user to explore comprehensive healthcare options, from GP practices through to NHS and private health treatments.

At Health Compare, I developed the entire business intelligence data warehouse and system architecture from the ground up. This included:

Data Management:

• Designed and implemented the data warehouse

• Managed the integration of all data sources, ensuring cleanliness and compatibility across multiple relational datasets

• Created a unique master list for each areas of the website’s search engines which enabled the integration and accurate presentation of disparate data sources.

Process Improvement:

• Continuously improved data processes from a laborious, manual update system to a streamlined, automated drag-and-drop mechanism.

• Utilising Azure Storage Explorer and Data Factory I drastically reducing data processing time from over a week to around 3 hours.

Reporting & Dashboarding:

• Developed interactive Power BI reports for a detailed focus on key metrics, including Google Analytics, competitive market analysis and trend analysis, from a regional down to provider level.

• Created advanced Excel reports to quickly summarize waiting list issues at specialty level for any chosen geographic level for distribution in PDF format.

Additionally, my role included line management responsibilities, overseeing a junior Business Intelligence Data Scientist who handled daily database management and further data automation and processing via Python.

Since starting Gemmeus Ltd in May 2012, I have helped a number of customers in meeting their Business Intelligence requirements. Presented with complex problems, I have been able to provide creative, practical and innovative solutions, often with very tight deadlines.
