Alan in a few words
I work mainly on print projects, both as the Designer and Art Director, starting from first consept and working through to final artwork.

I have past success and experience in creating brand and image development for various Colleges. I have created logo designs and worked these through every aspect of the brand, applying this throughout the organisiation. I produce the design consepts for prospectuses and for all internal/external advertising and publicity and I work these through to the final printed product.

I have designed and produced various complex books for leading publishers and engineering information packs for world leaders in manafactures

On a smaller scale, I work for various small charities creating individual publicity items for events and announcements, as an when these are required.

I have successfully pitched for large project work against other agencies, creating original ideas which are then presented in a client meeting or forum. These are as hard copy or on screen presntations.

No job is too large or too small.

I am very experienced with design for print and using the best print formats for the best results. I also understand the complexities of printing and can suggest best options for the project in hand.

I started my career in Graphic Design prior to computers and now use them as standard practise, This means I can still offer the very initial ideas as consepts produced as drawn visuals when required, or if the work requires an illustrative input, visuals to give an overall approach.

I can follow existing brand guides or develop ideas to extend these when asked.

I see type as an illustrative element and enjoy using space, layout and colour as tools to experiment with ideas. I can work within a tight breif and budget and to rigarous set deadlines.

I promise to deliver to any reasonable time scale set for the project undertaken.

    PUBLIC SECTOR
    September 1999 - June 2019 (19 years and 9 months)
    London, England, United Kingdom
This is one of many similar accounts I handled in the educational sector. I created a new brand look, sometimes with new logo, stationary and college signage/displays, etc.
I produced various forms of publicity from flyers to large media campaigns including tube station, posters, magazines and newspaper display advertising. I handle photographic shoots/photo libraries and Art Direction.
I produce staff and student recruitment publicity/advertising, including the creation of prospectuses and course material information.
These are sometimes yearly contracts with yearly campaigns.

Firstly I offer the client initial design ideas as a choice of visual approaches. These are discussed and worked on to develop a yearly approach to the visual display of the information The aim is capturing the attention of the audience and encouraging interest in the study of the areas offered. These are courses for mature students. Mostly self funded, so the delivery of all information has to be clear, professionally delivered and visually attractive.

The development of ideas are delivered both as hard copy mock-ups and electronic downloads. The final designs are worked up and proofed at various stages of development by the client and then finally signed off for me to create print ready artwork and finally for press or upload to media sites.
The clients are mostly within the charities sector and use public funding, so value and accountability on cost are paramount to them. I offer my clients an impeccable service at very reasonable costs.
