Alan led Civicorps for seven years and by every measure left us stronger than we were when he took the helm in 2011. Alan was the visionary of the creation of a partnership that has transformed our company. Civicorps was written into the garbage franchise agreement with the City of Oakland and Waste Management, inc. which involved the Teamster union. As a result of this partnership, we have increased our related service revenue from $500K to $2.4M. This has provided a large amount of unrestricted funds which we've reinvested in increased pay and services to our participants and used to increase our reserve. To date, 19 participants have been placed in internships at WM (which lead to union jobs),, eight of which have been hired full time. Alan also completely overhauled and restructured our development department. When Alan was hired we were averaging about $200K a year in grant and donation revenue. When he resigned in 2018, grant and donation revenue approximated $1.1M. Alan is a humble leader with many talents. I will always be thankful for his leadership and vision which provided countless benefits to Civicorps.
